Kheerganga Tample 

As the name itself stands out, Kheer means the river of Kheer. Once Lord Shiva asked his two children Ganesha and Kartike to travel the whole world, and said that whoever will come first , will be made king. Kartike went to walk around the world and Lord Ganesha just took a round of  Mata parvati and lord Shiva and said that you are my world. Hearing this, Lord Shiva was very pleased and declared Ganesha king. But when Kartikea came back after a long time, he saw that Ganesha had already been declared king, due to which he became very angry and went to a mountain and started meditating in a cave.



जैसा की नाम से ही सप्ष्ट है, खीर गंगा मतलब खीर की नदी।  कहा जाता है की एक बार भगवान् शिवजी ने अपने दोनों बच्चों गणेश और कार्तिके को पुरे संसार का भ्रमण करने के लिए कहा और कहा की जो पहले पुरे संसार का चक्कर काट कर आएगा उसे राजा बना दिया जाएगा। कार्तिके संसार का चक्कर लगाने के लिए चले गए और भगवान् गणेश जी ने माता पारवती और शिवजी का चक्कर लगा कर कहा की आप ही मेरा संसार हो , ऐसा सुनकर भगवान् शिवजी बहुत प्रसन्न हुए और गणेश को राजा घोषित कर दिया। पर जब बहुत समय बाद कार्तिके संसार का चक्कर लगा कर वापिस आये तो उन्होंने देखा  की गणेश जी को पहले से ही राजा घोषित कर दिया गया है , जिसके कारण वो बहुत क्रोधित हुए और एक पहाड़ पर जाकर एक गुफा में ध्यान करने लगे।

Later Lord Shiva and Mata Parvati went there to show love for Kartike, Mata Parvati shedding Kheer's river from that mountain for Kartike. after that place was named as Kheer ganga. After a very long time Lord Parshuram stopped kheer ganga from flowing so people could not flight in kalyuga and they turned it into river of hot water. It is said that Lord Shiva liked that place too and he also meditated for many years, due to which the significance of this place increased even further.



बाद में शिवजी भगवान् और माता पारवती कार्तिके मानाने की लिए वहां पर गए, माता पारवती ने कार्तिके को मनाने के लिए खीर की नदी उस पहाड़ से बहा दी।  जिसके वजह से उस स्थान का नाम खीरगंगा पढ़  गया। काफी समय बाद भगवान् परसुराम ने खीरगंगा को बहने से रोक दिया ताकि कलयुल आने पर लोगों की आपस में लड़ाई न होऔर उस नदी को गर्म पानी की नदी में बदल दिया।  कहा जाता है की भगवान् शिवजी को भी वह स्थान बहुत पसंद आया और उन्होंने भी कईं साल वहा पे ध्यान किया, जिसके कारन इस स्थान का महत्व और भी बढ़ गया।

In today's time, Kheer ganga is considered as a pilgrimage site and tourist destination. Every year there are devotees from all over the world and devotees of Lord Shiva. Here is the temple of Lord Shiva and a pond of hot water has been built. Even today, white fibers of cream can be seen in water and it is said that bathing in this water ends extreme and stomach diseases.



आज के समय में खीर गंगा एक तीर्थ स्थल और पर्यटन स्थल  के रूप मैं माना जाता है।  हर साल यहाँ विश्व भर से सैलानी और भगवान् शिवजी के भक्त आते है। यहाँ पे भगवान् शिव जी का मंदिर है और गर्म पानी का एक तालाब बनाया गया है। पानी में आज भी मलाई के  सफ़ेद रेशे देखे जा सकते है और कहा जाता है की इस पानी में नहाने से चरम और पेट के रोग समाप्त हो जाते हैं।

Kheerganga is a small village in Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh whose population is around 50-100, it is open only for seven months (March-October) of the year and can be reached on foot. The height from the sea level of Kheerganga is 13,051 feet (3978 meters). The main trekking of the Kheer Ganga begins with the Barasaini. Barsaini Bhuntar - The final bus stop on Kasol route is 47 kms (2 hrs and 47 minutes) from Bhuntar. You can rent a taxi from Bhuntar or travel by bus

खीरगंगा हिमाचल प्रदेश के कुल्लू  जिले का एक छोटा सा गाँव है जिसकी आबादी लगभग 50 -100 के आसपास है , यह साल के सात महीनो (मार्च -अक्तूबर) के लिए ही खुला होता है और यहाँ पैदल चलकर ही जाया जा सकता है। खीरगंगा की समुद्र तल से ऊंचाई 13,051 फुट (3978  मीटर) है। खीर गंगा की मुख्य ट्रैकिंग बरसैनी से शुरू होती है। बरसैनी भुंतर - कसोल मार्ग पर अंतिम बस स्टॉप है और यह भुंतर से 47 की. मी. (2 घंटे 47 मिनट ) की दुरी पर है।  आप भुंतर से टैक्सी किराए पर ले सकते हैं या बस से यात्रा कर सकते हैं।

Barshaini is a small town, there is some simple dhaba, a liquor wine shop and a taxi stand, whatever you need, you can buy from here, Tosh village is about 3 kilometers from here.

बरसैनी एक छोटा सा क़स्बा है , यहाँ पर कुछ साधारण ढाबे , शराब का एक ठेका और एक टैक्सी स्टैंड है , जो भी जरुरी सामान आपको चाहिए तो आप यहाँ से खरीद सकते हो तोश गांव यहाँ से लगभग 3 किलोमीटर है।

There are three different routes for Kheer Ganga Trek: -

खीर गंगा ट्रेक के लिए तीन अलग-अलग मार्ग हैं :-

1. After the Barsaini village, walk on the bridge and turn left, you ask anyone the way to go to Nakatan village and Kheerganga. This is the smallest and preferred route and it takes 3-4 hours for the person with average trekking speed. This route is on the left side of Parvati River. To track up to Kheerganga is the most popular route by way of Nakthan and the route is well marked.

1. बरसैनी  के बाद पुल पर चलें और बाएं मुड़ें, आप किसी को भी नकथन गांव और खीरगंगा जाने का रास्ता पूछें। यह सबसे छोटा और पसंदीदा मार्ग है और औसत ट्रेकिंग गति वाले व्यक्ति के लिए 3-4 घंटे लगते हैं। यह मार्ग पार्वती नदी के बाईं ओर है। खीरगंगा तक ट्रेक करने के लिए नकथन गांव के रास्ते सबसे लोकप्रिय मार्ग है और मार्ग अच्छी तरह से चिह्नित है।

2. If you turn from the bridge to the right then this path goes through Kalga Village, this track is not marked well, due to which you can wander the path, this path passes through the forests and you can see the good views. In the middle, this trek meets in trek one. If you are going for the first time then go to Nakthan village.

3. The third route starts with Tosh village, if you stay in Tosh village at night then you can use that trek. This path is also a short distance away meet from main Trek (Natkan Village trek )






2. अगर आप पुल से दाएं मुड़ते है तो ये रास्ता कलगा विलेज से होते हुए जाता है , यह ट्रेक अछि तरह से चिह्नित नहीं है जिसकी वजह से आप रास्ता भी भटक सकते हो , हलाकि यह रास्ता जंगलों से होकर गुजरता है और काफी अच्छे नज़ारे देखने को मिलते हैं।  बिच में यह ट्रेक पहले ट्रेक से ही मिल जाता है। अगर आप पहली बार जा रहे है तो नकथन गांव से ही जाएँ।

3. तीसरा रास्ता तोश गाँव से शुरू होता है , अगर आप रात को तोश गांव में रुके हो तो उस ट्रेक का इस्तेमाल कर सकते हो। यह रास्ता भी थोड़ी दूर चलकर नकटान वाले ट्रेक से मिल जाता है

When I went Khegaranga was first for the first time, I went to Trek of Kalga village as one of my friends knew about that trekk. All the pathways are about 12-14 kilometers.

जब में खीरगंगा पहली बार गया था तो मैं कलगा गांव के ट्रेक से गया था क्योकि मेरा एक दोस्त उस ट्रेक्क के बारे में जानता था। सभी रास्ते लगभग 12-14  किलोमीटर हैं।

Main Trekking to Kheerganga 

We arrived at Barsaini near 4 o'clock in the evening and decided to stay at Tosh village at night. We were unable to get any car or lift from Tosh from Barsaini, then we went on foot for Tosh village. Tosh is a peaceful village. In the morning, we went out for tracking. We traveled through Kalga Village and reached the Rudranag through the forest. The way to the forest was very beautiful. That trek is not used by low Trekkers, so we were alone in that trek which was very peaceful and beautiful. We had to reach Kheerganga from time to time so that we could settle down there. So we were taking break after a certain time.

हम बरसैनी में शाम को 4 बजे के करीब पहुंचे और रात को तोश गांव में ठहरने का निर्णय लिया। हमे बरसैनी  से तोश के कोई गाड़ी या  लिफ्ट नहीं मिल रही थी तो हम तोश गांव के लिए पैदल ही गए। रात को वहां रुके , तोश एक शांतिपूर्ण गांव है। सुबह हम नास्ता करके ट्रैकिंग के लिए निकल पड़े।  हम कलगा विलेज से होते हुये जंगल वाले रास्ते से रुद्रनाग पहुंचे।  जंगल वाला रास्ता बहुत ही खूबसूरत था। उस ट्रेक का उपयोग कम ट्रेकर्स द्वारा ही किया जाता है, इसलिए हम उस ट्रेक में अकेले थे, जो बहुत ही शांतिपूर्ण और सुंदर था। हमें समय से खीरगंगा पहुँचना था ताकि हम वहाँ अपना डेरा जमा सके । इसलिए हम एक निश्चित समय के बाद ब्रेक ले रहे थे।

Rudrnag temple we had seen while returning. Some people were reviving the temple, here you can see a waterfall which is very beautiful and fresh.On the way we saw that some trees had fallen on the trek, it was a kind of gate on the trek, which had become naturally formed

रुद्र नाग मंदिर हमने लौटते समय देखा था । कुछ लोग मंदिर का पुनर्निर्माण कर रहे थे, यहाँ आप एक झरना देख सकते हैं जो बहुत सुंदर और ताज़ा है। रास्ते में हमने देखा कि कुछ पेड़ ट्रेक पर गिरे हुए थे, यह ट्रेक पर एक तरह का गेट था, जो प्राकृतिक रूप से बन गया था।

Please do not use shortcuts during trekking. This can be dangerous for you, only some professional trekker or local rural can use these shortcuts because they are habitual. There is a warning board on the track.

There are many unique and simple food dhabas on this trek. We went ahead, we saw a beautiful waterfall, where we stayed for half an hour, the water was very cold, we washed our hands and mouth, and we enjoyed by putting feet in water.

इस ट्रेक पर कई अनोखे और सरल भोजन ढाबे हैं। हम आगे बढ़े, हमने एक सुंदर झरना देखा, जहाँ हम आधे घंटे तक रुके रहे, पानी बहुत ठंडा था, हमने अपने हाथ और मुँह धोए, और हमने पानी में पैर डालकर आनंद लिया।

Now we were seeing some traffic on the track because we were now on main track. Some locals were carrying stuff. Some trekkers were also visible. Now we were at a small distance from the Kheerganga. This was our last break. After this we stopped directly in Kheerganga.

अब हम ट्रैक पर हमे कुछ ट्रैफ़िक दिखाई दे रहा था , क्योंकि अब हम मुख्य ट्रेक पर थे। कुछ स्थानीय लोग सामान ले जा रहे थे । कुछ ट्रेकर भी दिख रहे थे । अब हम खीरगंगा से थोड़ी ही दुरी पर थे। यह हमारा आखिरी ब्रेक था। इसके बाद हम केवल सीधे खीरगंगा में रुके।

When we reached Kheerganga, we saw a huge green field on the hill. Which seemed very beautiful. There were some shops, some camping areas and some private tents. And above all we saw a temple and a trunk of hot water. It all looks very beautiful. After seeing this, we forgot all the tiredness.


जब हम खीरगंगा पहुँचे तो हमने पहाड़ी पर एक विशाल हरा मैदान देखा। जो बहुत सुंदर लग रहा था। वहां कुछ दुकानें थी , कुछ कैंपिंग एरिया और कुछ प्राइवेट टेंट थे । और सबसे ऊपर हमने एक मंदिर और गर्म पानी का एक कुंड देखा। यह सब बहुत सुंदर लग रहा है। इसे देखने के बाद हम सारी थकान भूल गए।

After reaching Kheerganga, we searched a place for camping and set up our camp.

खीरगंगा पहुँचने के बाद हमने कैम्पिंग के लिए जगह खोजी और अपना कैंप लगाया।

Camp Setup Kheerganga 

After setting up the camp, we went to take a bath, we bathed in the hot tub, it was very fresh and we forgot our complete tiredness. After bathing we went to the temple and prayed. Now it was evening time. That's why we arranged Dinner and Bonfire. Pleasant breeze was blowing, till late night we enjoyed songs and sang around the bonfire. It was amazing experience. We went to sleep after enjoying. If you are planning to go for Kheerganga trek, then I would suggest staying there for one night.

कैंप स्थापित करने के बाद, हम स्नान करने गए, हमने गर्म कुंड में स्नान किया, यह बहुत ताज़ा था और हम अपनी पूरी थकान भूल गए। स्नान करने के बाद हम मंदिर गए और प्रार्थना की। अब शाम का समय था। इसलिए हमने अलाव और भोजन की व्यवस्था की। सुखद हवा बह रही थी, देर रात तक हमने अलाव के चारों ओर गीतों का आनंद लिया और गाया। यह अद्भुत अनुभव था। हम आनंद लेने के बाद सोने चले गए। अगर आप खीरगंगा ट्रेक के लिए जाने की योजना बना रहे हैं तो मैं आपको एक रात वहां रुकने का सुझाव दूंगा।

After waking up in the morning, we saw a beautiful sunrise, because it was a cold morning. We again arranged the bonfire. After doing some activities in the morning, we went for a bath in the hot water kund. after taking bath again we did prayed in temple. then we packed our luggage and tent.

सुबह जागने के बाद, हमने एक सुंदर सूर्योदय देखा, क्योंकि यह एक ठंडी सुबह थी। हमने फिर से अलाव की व्यवस्था की। सुबह कुछ गतिविधियाँ करने के बाद, हम गर्म पानी के कुंड में स्नान के लिए गए। फिर से स्नान करने के बाद हमने मंदिर में प्रार्थना की। फिर हमने अपना सामान और तम्बू पैक किया।

After this we return to Kasol via the village Nakthan. Kheerganga Trek is very beautiful in itself.
